Doing research with disabled people
Disabled voices, inclusive products and services
Scope believes in the social model of disability. This means that we don’t focus on impairment or condition type. We focus on removing common barriers.
All organisations need to understand the barriers in their offer and remove them. You can do this by hearing disabled people’s lived experience of your products, policies and services. This will help you make meaningful change.
Inclusive research, by accessible insight experts
We’re experts at creating an accessible research experience. We’re disability equality trained facilitators. We take the time to build relationships with our panellists. This means they’re happy to express their honest views in a safe space.
Panellists give Scope their true opinions on how products, services, and policies impact their lives.
What’s included
Scope’s Insight team runs end to end projects which can include:
- short surveys
- in-depth interviews
- small focus groups
- customer journey testing
- user experience testing.
We can facilitate these online and in person. We have experience of other methods if needed. We’re happy to talk to you about these.
We will then deliver a presentation of the feedback with analysis.
We do not provide direct access to our panellists. We do not provide a recruitment only service.
Insight delivery and cost
A flexible approach, at a competitive price.
Once you’ve contacted us, we’ll ask for more information about your needs and goals for the project.
Because each insight project is different, our costs are tailored to reflect this. Once we have a detailed brief and confirmed capacity, we’ll give you a costed proposal.
Once we’ve agreed the details, arranged the deadlines, and signed the contract, we can start work.
Insight gathering, tailored to you
We’re invested in helping you understand your disabled audience. We will take the time to understand your goals and challenges. We expect them to be similar to Scope’s own mission to reach an equal future with disabled people.
Once there’s a brief, we’ll provide expert advice on the best way to get actionable insight. Together, we’ll build the project plan so it’s tailored to your objectives.
We’ll also agree the deadlines. Working with disabled people on our panel can take time. The project may take longer than other insight projects to meet Scope’s accessibility standards.
A diverse panel that trusts Scope
Our panellists have a range of experiences and access needs. They are both people who’ve been disabled for a long time and those who’ve become disabled in later life.
Our panel offers an accessible way for disabled people to feel safe expressing their views. They feel comfortable telling us things they wouldn’t share with other interviewers.
The recent insight project delivered by Scope has had both an immediate and a longer-term impact on BUUK, leading to tangible benefits for our customers and informing our ongoing approach to customer experience. We greatly appreciate the quality and depth of Scope’s analysis, and we would welcome the opportunity to repeat this exercise in the future.
