Workplace disability inclusion companion pack Chapter 7

Disability Confident status

What you will learn in this chapter

  • What the Disability Confident scheme is
  • What Disability Confident Scheme Level 1 involves
  • How we can help you reach different Disability Confident scheme levels

The Disability Confident scheme supports employers to make the most of disabled people’s talents. The scheme has 3 levels with different commitments. You must complete each level before moving on to the next.

The first is Level 1: Disability Confident Committed

As an example, Level 1 employers:

  • challenge attitudes towards disability
  • increase understanding of disability within their organisation
  • remove barriers for disabled people and those with long-term health conditions
  • make sure that disabled people have equal opportunities to fulfil their potential

We can support your organisation to reach each Disability Confident Level. Please speak to your account manager if you would like more information on how we can help.
