Workplace disability inclusion companion pack Chapter 5

Reasonable adjustments

What you will learn in this chapter

  • What reasonable adjustments are
  • Why reasonable adjustments are important
  • Where to find more information on reasonable adjustments

The Equality Act 2010 says an employer must make reasonable adjustments that allow a disabled person to work. At Scope, we refer to these as ‘inclusive policies and procedures’.

This could be anything that removes the barriers an employee faces because of their condition. It could be physical office equipment, for example, an assistive keyboard. Or it could be flexible working hours that fit around medical appointments.
